About Us

UBSS Society has been working in the CG state of India since its inception in 2003. The state is comprised of largely tribal people. The economy centers around farming and labor activities. Educational attainment, especially for females, is low. Given that those who populate the area are highly disparate both ideologically and spatially, conflict within and between communities is common. Moreover, in recent years the area has witnessed mass migration of its youth to nearby cities in an attempt to escape a life of working in the field. Motivated by these factors, UBSS aims to work on tackling the above mentioned issues through its work with youth and child development, women's empowerment, and communal harmony issues with a purely community centered and human-rights based view of development.

Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues - from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one's rights - and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen.

UBSS's program of activities aims to broaden the minds and potential of all CG citizens through activities such as: film screenings and discussions, workshops, trainings and sporting events. These activities take place in a common or 'fifth' space in which every individuals thoughts and opinions can be discussed in a safe environment with no judgment. It is thought that in creating a setting in which people can come together with no thought of caste or religious exclusion, courage in the community will be fostered, empowering people to form their own ideas and act on them.

UBSS believes that it is crucial to recognize the youth as autonomous change agents who have the energy, passion and creativity to make a difference to society. It is thought that through educating and empowering the young, they will gain the potential to change not just their lives and the lives of other youth, but to empower and encourage the same education on their mothers, their younger brothers and sisters, and the entirety of their community.

UBSS is to deploy best possible methodology and technology for achieving ideal social return on investment, to practice and promote good governance. To link business competitiveness of the corporate with social development initiatives; also to sensitize privileged children, youth and citizens in general to promote Civic Driven Change.

we strongly believe that the nation's strength and future lies in the hands of its youth. Unlike the developed countries where 90% youth opt for some or the other sort of vocational training, less than 5% undergo vocational training in our country despite the fact that India is a country with the largest youth population.

At UBSS, we run the only inclusive program in India. The key features of the program are:
  • Admission to anyone who can read and write with no formal education
  • Focus on hands on vocational training (70% practical & 30% theory)
  • Different program for attitudinal change and life skills such as decision making, time management, money management, values & perception, health & hygiene, work readiness etc.
  • Enabling courses in English Speaking and Basic Computer
  • Community Engagement, Counseling and Mentoring
  • Job placements and assistance for self-employment

We adopt a holistic approach of enhancing the less fortunate youth with vocational skills, guidance, counseling and financial assistance.
